Aiguille du Midi
The
cable car is located in the centre of Chamonix. The first section takes visitors to the Plan d l'Aiguille station (2300m). The second section goes to the top station and the summit of the Aiguille at 3842m. An unforgettable view of the Mont-Blanc range unfolds all around and on a clear day you can see the Monte Rosa, the Grand Combin and the Matterhorn ! |
La mer de glace
An exceptional sightseeing excursion on the nostalgic red cog railway of Montenvers brings you directly up to the Mer de Glace, the glacier known as the 'Sea of Ice'. Located at an altitude of 1913 m, the Mer de Glace is 7 km long, 200 m thick with a surface dimension of 40km2. Also worth visiting is the crystal
gallery, a wildlife exhibition and the famous ice grotto which is carefully carved each year into the heart of the glacier. Access to the grotto is by small gondolas from the station platform. |
