Les Chalets du Jardin Alpin ****

Chalets built in traditional style from local stone and doted with slate roofs. They are situated at the foot of the Solaise massif; doorstep skiing in a quiet residential area.

The luxury apartments are equipped with satellite television, direct dial phone, dish washer and combined oven. Breakfast possible. Bed and bath linen and regular cleaning included. Laundry service. An indoor parking is available ; a free shuttle bus service runs from 4.30 p.m. tot 8 p.m. to join the historical town centre, situated at a distance of approximately 800m, with its 11 Th. century church, numerous boutiques, 62 restaurants, 11 bars and 2 night clubs.

The resort of Val d'Isère was born under a lucky star. Extremely lucky as Val d'Isère held three trump cards.

- Firstly was the site, already considered in the thirties as one of the top places for skiing : eternal snows, well exposed mountains, numerous vast snowfields.

- Secondly was the construction of the road leading to the Iseran pass during the summer months. This road was inaugurated by the French President Albert Lebrun in 1937, thus linking Bourg St Maurice to Italy.

- Thirdly was that Val d'Isère had three passionate benefactors who believed in its potential. From the late nineteen-twenties Charles Diebold, Mr and Mrs Jacques Mouflier lead by Nicolas Bazile, the local Mayor, invested much time and energy creating and promoting the resort as an international skiing haven.
